Wordpress Integration
Connect your WordPress website with RankHit using WordPress.com OAuth — no plugin required
How WordPress OAuth Integration Works
The WordPress integration uses a secure OAuth/API connection so RankHit can publish articles directly to your site. You click Connect WordPress, sign in to WordPress, pick the site you want, and grant authorization. Once connected, generated articles are deployed to that site automatically.
Setup Instructions
Step 1: Start Creating Your Integration
- Navigate to your RankHit dashboard
- Go to Settings → Integrations
- Select "WordPress" from the available options
- Click "Connect WordPress" to start the OAuth flow
Step 2: Log In to WordPress
- You'll be redirected to WordPress.com to sign in with the account that owns (or can manage) your site:
- Log in with your WordPress.com account
- If your site is self-hosted, it must be connected to WordPress.com (typically via Jetpack) so RankHit can reach it through the WordPress.com API
- Approve the login if you are already signed in
Step 3: Select a Site and Authorize RankHit
- WordPress shows the sites available on your account
- Select the WordPress site you want RankHit to publish to
- Review the requested permissions (RankHit needs access to create and update posts)
- Approve the request so RankHit can receive an authorization token for that site
Step 4: Complete the Integration
- Return to RankHit to finish connecting, or start from the button below
- After you authorize, WordPress sends RankHit access for the selected site
- You'll be redirected back to RankHit and the integration will show as connected
- RankHit can then deploy blogs to that site automatically
Note: If the connection fails, confirm you logged in with the correct WordPress account, selected the right site, and completed authorization. Then try Connect WordPress again.
What Gets Published
- Article title
- Full article content (with proper formatting)
- Featured image
- SEO meta description
- Publication date
- Tags (based on keywords)
- Custom slug/permalink
Publishing Options
Auto-publish
Articles are automatically published to your WordPress site as soon as they're generated in RankHit. No manual steps required.
Draft Mode
Choose to save articles as drafts for review before publishing. Perfect for sites that require editorial approval.
Scheduled Publishing
Articles respect the scheduling settings from RankHit. If you schedule an article for a future date, it will be generated and published at that time.
Troubleshooting
Redirected to WordPress but nothing happens
Make sure you complete login and site selection. If the window was closed early, return to RankHit and click Connect WordPress again.
I don't see my WordPress site in the list
Sign in with the WordPress.com account that owns the site. For self-hosted WordPress, connect the site to WordPress.com (Jetpack) first, then retry the OAuth flow.
Authorization was denied or cancelled
RankHit cannot publish until you approve access. Start Connect WordPress again and grant permission for the selected site.
Connection fails after authorizing
You may have been signed out of RankHit in the original browser tab. Sign in to RankHit, then reconnect WordPress so authorization can finish.
Articles not appearing on WordPress site
Confirm the integration is connected in Settings → Integrations. Check that articles aren't being saved as drafts, and that the connected WordPress user can create posts on the selected site.
Featured images not showing
Verify that your WordPress theme supports featured images and that your hosting allows external image URLs. Some security plugins may block external images.
Connection stopped working
This usually means the WordPress authorization was revoked or the token expired. Disconnect WordPress in RankHit, then connect and authorize the site again.
"403 Forbidden" or permission error
The connected account may not have permission to publish on that site. Reconnect with an owner or administrator account, or restore RankHit's access in your WordPress.com applications.
Security & Best Practices
- Only authorize RankHit for the WordPress site you intend to publish to
- Use a WordPress account with the minimum access needed to create and update posts
- Revoke RankHit access from WordPress.com if you no longer need the integration
- Consider using draft mode if you want to review articles before publishing
- Set up proper user roles if multiple people manage your WordPress site
